The Royals began their season with a three game series in Newfoundland, starting the season the same way last season ended. Unfortunately for the Royals, things seemed a little too familiar as they came out of the weekend 0-3. Fans, though quite disappointed, are still quite excited for the upcoming home series quickly brushing off the loses against the division rival.

As of now, the Royals currently stand with two losses and and an overtime loss with 13 goals scored against them and a total of six goals scored. Three of those six goals have been the result of a power play which, as of now, has made fans stirring as the power play last season was one of the Royals’ weakest points. The penalty kill has already come off strong much like last season with 15 total penalty kills thus far with 12 of them killed off. So far the most visible player in the scoring sense is forward Ryan Chyzowski who is a new face for the Royals this season. He has appeared in all through games thus far and has attained four total points that come down to three goals and one assist. The only other scorer thus far this season is Yvan Mongo who currently stands with his one goal. With the results of the past series with Newfoundland, the question then becomes, who will be the first to score the first home goal of the season? Will it be Chyzowski? Or perhaps will another new face take hold of the first home goal celebration this season?

Luckily for the Royals, this will be the only time the team will have to travel to Newfoundland this season unless the two teams face off in the playoffs for the third year in a row. At this early point in the season, the consideration of playoffs hasn’t been given even the slightest of thought but fans are hoping that a rematch will ensue this year with new results. For now, fans are simply excited to see the team sporting their new orange jerseys and see how the team performs on home ice. There’s all kinds of excitement in store for the opening weekend for the team with a win hoping to make the first home game that much sweeter.
