The Reading Royals have named Anthony Peters as the team’s 10th Head Coach in Franchise History. He will also hold the title as General Manager. Peters, 34, joins Reading after spending the last two seasons as the assistant coach with the Florida Everblades and winning a Kelly Cup with the Everblades in 2024. Florida also made it to the Eastern Conference Finals in each of the two years Peters was there. This is an excellent hire for Reading, as they bring in someone who has been part of a winning culture under Brad Ralph for the last two years. Peters will also bring a lot of experience to the goaltenders in Reading. He replaces Jason Binkley, who went 46-44-15 during his tenure as the Royals bench boss, as he was relieved of his duties on May 27th.

“I’m looking forward to working with the entire organization to build a winning culture for the Reading Royals,” Peters stated. “I’m very grateful for the opportunity and excited for the challenge that lies ahead.”

Prior to his coaching career, Anthony Peters spent parts of five seasons as a goaltender in the AHL and ECHL. In 116 games at the ECHL level, he would put up a record of 70-35-5 with a 2.60 GAA, .910SV%, and seven shutouts while spending time with the Florida Everblades and Cincinnati Cyclones. He also saw action in 12 Kelly Cup Playoff games, all of which came with the Everblades. In the AHL, he would put up a 19-24-6 record with a 3.16 GAA, .897SV%, and two shutouts in 51 games with the Rochester Americans, Charlotte Checkers, and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. The Blyth, Ontario, native would spend his final four years of his playing career overseas in Germany, Sweden, Austria, and Slovakia. Peters would win a Slovakian Extraliga Championship in 2022 with HC Slovan Bratislava.
