ECHL: Reading Royals: New Kids On The Block: 2/7/2024

The Reading Royals announced on February 7th, 2024, that there were two new signings!

Anthony Yurkins, who is 25 years old and hails from Staten Island, NY, started his season this year in the Southern Professional Hockey League with Fayetteville Marksmen.

In the course of 27 games this season, Yurkins has posted 5 goals with 9 assists and is currently holding a +4 rating in the SPHL with Fayetteville. Yurkins played for Aurora University in NCAA Division 3. He played 39 games for Aurora and posted 4 goals with 6 assists over his time there. Yurkins is 5’10” and 174 pounds.

The second signing of the day was for Dilan Savenkov. He is the first Estonia-born player in Reading Royals franchise history.

He began the season in the ECHL with the Trois-Rivières Lions, moved on to the Cincinnati Cyclones, and then to the Orlando Solar Bears. The Estonian native has played in 7 games this season and has 9 PIMS and a +1 rating. He has not registered any goals or assists.

Savenkov played throughout two seasons for the University of Alberta in USports before signing with Trois-Rivières. In 30 games played, he tallied three goals and 4 assists. Savenkov also attended AHL Team Springfield Thunderbirds training camp this past October.

His season debut? Against the Royals on October 29th, 2023

Savenkov is 6’0″ and 207 pounds. He is a right-shot defenseman.

The Royals head out on the road to face Wheeling Nailers for the second and third game of this week’s series. They return home on February 17th to face the Newfoundland Growlers.
