The Reading Royals have re-signed forwards Yvan Mongo and Devon Paliani for the 2023-24 season. Both forwards were resounding fan favorites in Reading, and fans are excited to see their return.

Mongo played in 40 games for the Royals last season, scoring five goals and eight assists. Though he suffered an injury that lasted a good part of the season, fans still loved his ability to get to the puck to make the play. When he made his return to the playoffs in the post-season, his injury seemed unnoticeable as he fell right back into the rhythm of his team. During his nine games in the playoffs, he scored one goal and one assist before the team’s elimination by the Newfoundland Growlers in the second round.

Paliani has made quite the presence with the Royals this past season after spending the 2021-22 season with three separate ECHL teams, the Maine Mariners, the Worcester Railers, and the Toledo Walleye. Royals fans were excited for him to take his turn at his third North Division team, where he played in 64 games and scored 15 goals and 15 assists through the regular season. During the post-season, his presence continued to be known on the ice as he went on to score two goals and three assists. Fans were entertained by his pesky presence throughout the season, seeming to always know how to get the opposing team’s blood boiled even through the playoffs.

Mongo and Paliani will be re-joining Shane Sellar, Brendan Hoffmann, and newest forward, Austin Master, with still plenty of time before Opening Night, and fans are excited to see who will be the next to join the roster.
