ECHL: Reading Royals Sign a Pair of Forwards

The Reading Royals have added two new faces to the roster with the signing of forwards Patrick Moynihan and Jérémy Michel. Reading now has six forwards and a defenseman signed for the 2025-26 season.

Patrick Moynihan

Moynihan, 24, spent his rookie season with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits and Idaho Steelheads, putting up 11 goals and 25 assists for 36 points in 66 games. He made his professional debut at the end of the 2023-24 season, playing one game with the Chicago Wolves. The former sixth-round pick of the New Jersey Devils in 2019 spent four years in the NCAA before making the jump to the pros. Moynihan spent his first four years at Providence College, where he put up 37 goals and 34 assists for 71 points in 123 games. He spent his final year of eligibility at the University of Notre Dame, where he put up 10 goals and 14 assists for 24 points in 36 games with the Fighting Irish.

“Really excited to get down to Reading and meet all the guys and fans and experience everything Reading has to offer,” stated Moynihan. “Can’t wait for the first game at Santander.”

Moynihan also won a Gold Medal at the U17 World Hockey Challenge and the 2021 World Junior Championships with the USA. He also won a Bronze medal at the U18 World Junior Championships in 2018.

Jérémy Michel

Michel, 24, joins the Royals after spending his junior career in the QMJHL and USports. In five years with the Val-d’Or Foreurs, he put up 83 goals and 133 assists for 216 points in 294 games. He would add eight goals and 10 assists for 18 points in 29 career QMJHL playoff games. The Lévis, Quebec native would then head to USports, spending three seasons at the University of Moncton. In 87 games, he would put up 32 goals and 48 assists for 80 points. He would add five goals and nine assists for 14 points in 19 USports Playoff games. Michel was Mr. Irrelevant in 2019 as he was the last pick of the 2019 NHL Draft.
