
The Kalamazoo Wings have re-signed rookie defenseman Davis Pennington for the 2025-26 season. Pennington, 24, made his ECHL Debut at the end of last season, putting up a goal and three assists for four points in seven games. He would pick up a goal in his first career ECHL game, and finished the season with three points in his last four games. Pennington becomes the third defenseman and 10th player to sign with the K-Wings for the 2025-26 season.
The Saline, Michigan, native spent four seasons in the NCAA before joining Kalamazoo last season. He spent his first two seasons at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. In 66 games with the Mavericks, he put up three goals and 20 assists for 23 points in 66 games. Pennington would then spend his final two seasons of eligibility at Quinnipiac. In 77 games with the Bobcats, he put up four goals and 37 assists for 41 points. The Bobcats would win back-to-back ECAC Regular Season Championships in 2024 and 2025.
Davis Pennington Junior Career
Davis Pennington spent his three years in juniors, as he spent a year in the NAHL, BCHL, and USHL. During his time in the NAHL, he played in 52 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights. He would then spend a year in the BCHL with the Powell River Kings, where he put up two goals and 30 assists for 32 points in 57 games. In five games during the BCHL Playoffs, Pennington would put up three assists in five games. The 5’10 defensmen finished his junior career in the USHL with the Muskegon Lumberjacks. In 53 games with the Lumberjacks, he had four goals and 26 assists for 30 points. He would add an assist in four games during the 2021 USHL Playoffs.
