The ECHL has announced that Orlando Solar Bears goaltender Ryan Fanti has been named the ECHL Goaltender of the Week for the week beginning January 6th and ending January 12th. Fanti went 4-0 with a 1.45 GAA, .952SV%, and one shutout. The 25-year-old goaltender would also start all three games of a three-in-three against the Adirondack Thunder. In 19 games this season with the Solar Bears, Fanti is 8-10-1-0 with a 2.88 GAA, .901SV%, and one shutout.
The Thunder Bay, Ontario native began his career in the Edmonton Oilers system after signing a two-year, entry-level contract. Fanti is currently on a one-year AHL deal with the Syracuse Crunch. He would play in nine games at the AHL level with the Bakersfield Condors, putting up a record of 1-5-1 with a 3.88 GAA and .883 SV%. Most of his time came at the ECHL level with the Fort Wayne Komets, where he put up a 24-22-1 record with a 3.25 GAA, .901SV%, and two shutouts. Fanti has a goal and a fight in his ECHL career, along with a goal and a fight during his time with the Komets. Prior to going pro, Fanti spent two seasons at Minnesota-Duluth, where he went 31-19-6 with a 2.01 GAA, .921SV%, and seven shutouts in 57 games. He would be named the Goaltender of the Year in the NCHC in his second season with the Bulldogs, where he went 20-12-4 with a 1.83 GAA, .929SV%, and seven shutouts in 37 games as the Bulldogs would win the NCHC Championship.
