Earlier today, the Savannah Ghost Pirates announced that they have signed forwards Connor Gregga and Kyle Jeffers to ECHL contracts for the 2025-2026 season. Both players spent time in Savannah last season, with Gregga appearing in 17 games and Jeffers appearing in 46 games. Savannah will be looking to continue to add impact players to their lineup in order to make a run in the playoffs, and ideally take home the Kelly Cup.

Connor Gregga’s Impact

By bringing back Connor Gregga, Savannah has brought back a young forward who can make an impact in a few different ways on the ice. In his 17 games, the 24-year-old added 3 points to the scoresheet by scoring two goals and adding an assist. Last year was Gregga’s first professional season after playing 4 years collegiately at Minnesota State University-Mankato and his final collegiate season at Long Island University. While playing at Long Island University, Gregga played in 33 games, scoring 4 goals and 8 assists. Gregga is very excited to be back and continue to develop his game in Savannah, having said, “Their passion and energy create one of the best atmospheres in the league, and it’s something you feel every time you hit the ice. I want to come back and build off that momentum we had next season.”

Kyle Jeffers Returns

Kyle Jeffers will be returning to Savannah after appearing in 46 games and scoring 7 goals and adding 7 assists for 14 points. Jeffers made his professional debut in the 2023-2024 season after finishing his collegiate career at Lindenwood University, where he had nine goals and 8 assists in his final season. In his first professional season, Jeffers had 10 points in 19 games, with 6 of those being goals. As a returning player, Jeffers will look to be a key contributor for the Ghost Pirates and is hoping to make a push for the Kelly Cup.

Looking to the Future

Both returning players are under 25 and are going to be focused on development in order to hopefully make the jump to the AHL in the near future. With both players having experience in Savannah, they will be seen as key components to Head Coach Jared Staal’s plans moving forward. With the signings of Jeffers and Gregga, the Savannah Ghost Pirates now have five players under contract for next season, joining Nick Granowicz, Keaton Pehrson, and Liam Walsh. The Ghost Pirates have now signed 4 forwards and 1 defenseman, with no goaltenders currently under contract at this time. Savannah will absolutely be looking to add in net as last season was a struggle in that department. With a -22 goal differential last season, the Ghost Pirates really struggled; however, by bringing back some key offensive contributors, they will hopefully turn that number around next season. If Savannah can successfully build the blueline and find an answer in net, they will likely be able to make a playoff push. The South Division looks to be tough again next season, with the 4 time ECHL champions, Florida Everblades, leading the pack. If Savannah wants to be considered a legitimate threat next season, they will need to continue to make moves like these.
