ECHL: Savannah Ghost Pirates: Game Preview 12/31/2024

After a hard fought battle against the South Carolina Stingrays on Saturday and Sunday this past week, both games won by the Savannah Ghost Pirates, they face-off for a New Year’s Eve showdown at Enmarket arena at 5:00 pm.

Savannah Ghost Pirates

  • Reece Vitelli currently has 29 points and is second behind defenseman Dennis Cesana for team leading.
  • Devon Paliani is currently on a hot streak with scoring. He has accumulated 11 points in the last 11 games. He is second to Vitelli for forwards with points. Paliani earned the game winning goal in Sunday’s contest that led the Ghost Pirates to their fourth straight win.
  • This past weekend, Cesana charged past all defenseman in the ECHL for the lead with 30 points. Matt Register with the Idaho Steelheads is in second at 27 points. Cesana earned a goal and assist in Saturday’s game against South Carolina that put him at the 30 point mark.
  • Keith Kinkaid earned a recall to the Charlotte Checkers, and Cooper Black was re-assigned to Savannah. In Black’s starts, he has gone 4-0-0-0 and has been a brick wall between the pipes for Savannah in his starts. In the same token, when it comes to Evan Cormier’s starts, he is 8-5-1-0 and provides the same stellar goaltending for Savannah.
  • Savannah is currently in fourth place in standings with a 16-11-2-0 record, and two points directly behind South Carolina.

South Carolina Stingrays

  • Kyler Kupka and Austin Magera are leading the team in points with Kupka having 24 and Magera having 23.
  • Blake Thompson is leading defenseman on the team with 20 points in his pocket. He currently has one goal and 19 assists.
  • South Carolina currently has 4 goaltenders on the roster, with a newly signed Ryan Kenny, who comes to the Stingrays from the Fayetteville Marksmen. They have Seth Eisele, Garin Bjorklund, and Mitchell Gibson. Eisele’s record is currently 7-5-1-0, Bjorklund’s record is 5-3-0-0, and Gibson’s record is 5-1-0-0.
  • South Carolina is currently in third place in standings with a 17-9-2-0 record. They are two points ahead of Savannah and two points behind the Jacksonville Icemen.
