Looking Back at the Inaugural Season:

The Ghost Pirates came out of the graveyard looking for gold! They were the team to beat, and players were scared of them. Unfortunately, those scores and wins did not last as transactions within the team started happening. The Ghost Pirates placed 22nd in the League with a record of 28-34-9-1. Even through some losses and hard-to-watch games, the fans’ energy never faltered. The fans of Savannah broke records for season ticket holders and the most sold-out games total! Another accomplishment by the team, Isaiah Saville, was able to place in the top five in the League with a Save Percentage of 0.920. Although the Ghost Pirates’ season may not have ended how fans and players wanted, the NHL affiliate, the Vegas Golden Knights, were able to win the Stanley Cup Championship of 2023!

Season Two Preview:

The Ghost Pirates will start their season hosting the Norfolk Admirals on Friday, October 20th. With both coaches and players getting their land legs this second season, we will hopefully see the team escalate to the Playoffs. The team gets back their top three goal scorers from last season: Brent Pedersen, Alex Swetlikoff, and Vincent Marleau! Notable players that are with the AHL affiliate, the Henderson Silver Knights, are Pat Guay and Daniel D’Amato.

A few notable players to keep an eye out for in Savannah this year are Jett Jones, Anthony Collins, and Simon` Pinard.

Jett Jones, center, has been playing for the Western Hockey League with the Lethbridge Hurricanes since 2019. In his last two seasons, he was named captain. Anthony Collins, right-wing, has been playing for the Norfolk Admirals and the Kalamazoo Wings for the last few seasons. He acquired 13 points in the 21-22 season and seven points for the 22-23 season. Collins made a goal during the preseason games against the Jacksonville Icemen.

Simon` Pinard, left-wing, was with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada from 2018-2022, as well as Gatineau Olympiques for the 21-22 season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He put up a total of 144 points with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada and 51 points with the Gatineau Olympiques. For the 22-23 season, he attended the University of New Brunswick, where he recorded a total of 29 points.
