Earlier today, the Savannah Ghost Pirates announced that they will be bringing back forward Seth Fyten and added defenseman Bryan Yoon, both of whom will be on ECHL contracts for the upcoming season.
Fyten Returns
Seth Fyten returns to Savannah after making his professional debut with them last season. In his time in the ECHL last year, Fyten appeared in six games, where he managed to score his first professional goal. Prior to playing professionally, Fyten played collegiately for the Bowling Green State University Falcons for five seasons. Over the course of his collegiate career, the forward appeared in 126 games where he tallied 29 points, with 17 of those being goals. Fyten will likely be a piece that the Ghost Pirates emphasize developing as they will be looking for him to contribute on the scoresheet next season.
Yoon Joins the Crew
The Savannah Ghost Pirates also made a key addition earlier today by signing right-shot defenseman Bryan Yoon. Yoon brings a wealth of experience to the Ghost Pirates lineup, having spent part of two seasons in the AHL. During his time in the AHL, Yoon spent time with both the Hartford Wolf Pack and the Colorado Eagles. The defenseman saw relative success in the AHL appearing in 40 games and contributing two goals and five assists while being a plus player.
Yoon’s time in the ECHL saw his point totals drastically increase as he had 36 points in 67 games, with 10 of those points being goals. Prior to his professional career the defenseman played collegiately for Colorado College where in his final season he represented the team as their captain. That same season the Colorado native put up 15 points, contributing a goal and 14 assists. Savannah will most likely be counting on Yoon to play important minutes for them. A major focus for the Ghost Pirates this offseason has been improving the defense and Yoon will likely be a key piece in accomplishing that.
