After facing off against each other in Rapid City, the Allen Americans and Rapid City Rush will head to Allen this week to faceoff in the second leg of their five game series.

Last Week

Last week, the Rapid City Rush and Allen Americans faced off in Rapid City, where the Americans were swept. In the first game, the two teams went to a shootout, which was Allen’s first of the season. Rapid City managed to win the shootout, earning their first shootout victory of the season after losing their previous three shootouts. In the second game, the Rush took an early three-goal lead in the first period and then scored three more in the first 2:43 of the second period, with a total of five goals in the second period, leading to an 8-4 win over the Americans.

Incoming Stats

The Rush and Americans have now met five times this season, with the Rush holding a record of 3-1-1-0 against the Americans.

The Rapid City Rush enter this series with a road record of 4-11-3-0 and an overall record of 12-20-4-3. Rapid City is currently on a two-game win streak, having gone 5-5-0-0 in their last ten games. However, they also enter the series with a three-game road losing streak. They are converting at 16.3% on the power play (24th) and 79.1% on the penalty kill (19th). The Rush are averaging 31.57 shots per game but are also allowing an average of 32.49 shots against per game. They are averaging 2.69 goals per game while allowing an average of 3.77 goals against per game. The Allen Americans come into the series with a home record of 3-10-4-0 and an overall record of 10-21-7-1. They are 2-5-2-1 in their last ten games and are currently on a seven-game losing streak. The Americans are converting at 20.7% on the power play (10th) and have a penalty kill rate of 78.3% (21st). They are averaging 2.56 goals per game while allowing an average of 4.18 goals against per game. The Americans are averaging 27.74 shots per game and allowing an average of 39.26 shots against per game, the highest shots against average in the league. While Allen has only scored two shorthanded goals this season, both have been on home ice.

Players to Watch

The player to watch for the Americans is forward Patrick Polino. This past weekend, Polino recorded three assists against the Rush in two games. With Allen this season, Polino has played in ten games, scoring one goal and providing eight assists for a total of nine points, with a +1 rating.

For Rapid City, the player to watch is forward and captain Ryan Wagner. Wagner is coming off his first hat trick of the season, having scored three goals and added two assists against the Americans in two games last weekend. This season, Wagner has played in 39 games with the Rush, tallying 16 goals and 20 assists for 36 points, along with 30 penalty minutes and a -5 rating. Wagner leads the Rush in goals, assists, and points this season.

The Rush and Americans will start their series on Wednesday, January 29th. The two teams will have a day off before resuming the series on Friday, January 31st, and then wrapping up the series on Saturday, February 1st. Puck drop will be at 6:10 pm MT on all three nights.
