ECHL: South Carolina Stingrays Announce 2024-2025 Season-Ending Roster

The South Carolina Stingrays have officially released their Season-Ending Roster following a record-breaking 52-15 regular season. The team not only claimed the Brabham Cup for the league’s best record but also set a new franchise point record. However, the postseason did not go as planned, as the Rays faced a disappointing first-round exit at the hands of the Orlando Solar Bears. A season marked by ups and downs yielded the Stingrays’ best performance in many years.

2024-25 Season-Ending Roster:

From this season-ending roster, each team can retain the rights to a maximum of eight players by issuing qualifying offers by 11:59 p.m. ET on July 7. Among these eight, only four can be veterans, defined as players with 260 or more regular-season professional games played as of the start of the 2023–24 season.

Notably:

  • Players with open qualifying offers cannot be traded.
  • Teams are not required to extend offers to players who sign contracts before the July 7 deadline.
  • Qualifying offers remain open until 11:59 p.m. ET on July 22, after which they expire. Teams may then choose to re-sign the player or opt not to move forward.

If a team extends a valid qualifying offer to a veteran player or goaltender (with more than 180 regular-season games played), it retains that player’s rights until July 22. After this date, if the team does not sign the player, the player becomes a restricted free agent.. These players may then seek offers from other ECHL teams, though the team holding their rights has seven days to match any offer.

If by 11:59 p.m. ET, the player signs no offer or contract on August 8, the player becomes an unrestricted free agent.

Over the next few weeks, the South Carolina Stingrays will be hard at work assembling next season’s roster. Fans can expect a mix of fresh talent and familiar faces as the team prepares for another run at the Kelly Cup. The 2025–26 campaign begins on October 18, when the Stingrays host the Norfolk Admirals. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. EDT.
