ECHL: South Carolina Stingrays Sign Rookie Goaltender

The South Carolina Stingrays have announced that they have signed goaltender Seth Eisele to a contract for the 2024-25 season. Eisele, who just finished his last year of NCAA eligibility, played his first three years at Lake Superior State University, where he put up a 14-16 record with a 2.74 GAA and .912SV%. He would spend his final year of eligibility at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, where he went 4-1-1 with a 2.37 GAA. and .937SV% in eight appearances.

Heading into the 2024-25 season, Eisele will likely be the third goaltender for the Rays behind Garin Bjorklund and Mitchell Cooper. Despite being the third goaltender, I would still expect Eisele to see a handful of starts with the amount of three in threes ECHL teams and with call-ups with the other two goalies between Hershey and South Carolina.

“As a rookie coming into the ECHL, I wanted to go somewhere where there’s a good opportunity,” said Eisele. “After talking to a few teams, I thought South Carolina was a perfect fit. I’m excited about the upcoming season and can’t wait to get going.”

Prior to playing in the NCAA, the Lake Elmo, Minnesota native played in 37 games in the BCHL with the Wenatchee Wild and Surrey Eagles, where he went 20-13 with a 2.73 GAA and .885SV%, along with three shutouts. The 25-year-old goaltender also played in 33 games in the NAHL with the Lone Star Brahmas, where he went 18-8-2 with a 2.28 GAA, .926SV%, and one shutout.
