ECHL: Stingrays Add Depth to Front Line

Go crazy, go Luko! Jarid Lukosevicius is returning to the South Carolina Stingrays!

Dressing in only five games during the regular season, he registered five goals and three assists. While he might have been on loan for the majority of the season last year with the Belleville Senators (AHL), he came back when it mattered most.

Many fans will remember his return to the North Charleston Coliseum, as he scored within minutes of returning to the ice with the Stingrays, and the crowd happily welcomed him back.

The high-intensity forward also helped capture the South Division title and later added four goals and one assist to the low-scoring playoff run for the Stingrays against the now Kelly Cup Champions, the Florida Everblades.

Over his career, the 5’10” forward has spent ample time in the AHL with the Grand Rapids Griffins, Abbotsford Canucks, and the Belleville Senators. While with the Senators, he scored seven goals and six assists in 52 games but has 163 games of experience within the league overall.

Before starting his professional career, Lukosevicius suited up with the University of Denver for four seasons, registering 105 points in 158 games with the Pioneers. During his NCAA career, he took a trip to the Frozen Four in 2017 to face off against now Head Coach Brenden Kotyk, who was then at Minnesota Duluth. In the matchup, Lukosevicius would register a hat trick and Kotyk an assist with their respective teams, but ultimately, Luko and the Pioneers would take the title back to Colorado.

The front line is continuing to shape up as training camp draws closer and closer, but there still seems to be a veteran aspect missing. Lukosevicius could help bridge that gap, but there will always be that thought in the back of our minds: Will he get sent back up again? In Coach Kotyk, we trust, but are there any other big names coming back from last season?
