ECHL: Swamp Rabbits Add Former Coach Nick Prkusic

The Greenville Swamp Rabbits announced the newest addition to the 2023-2024 roster on Thursday, August 17, 2023, adding to the already strong list of forwards to sign with Greenville. The former captain of Robert Morris University (2019-2021), Nick Prkusic. Prkusic was born in St. Albert, AB, Canada, and will be turning 27 shortly after the start of the regular season. Prkusic is currently listed at 6’3”, 209 lbs.

Over the last two seasons, Prkusic has still been involved with hockey. However, he was behind the bench and not on the ice. For the 2022-2023 season, Prkusic spent the season as an assistant coach for the Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. The season before, Prkusic was the head coach of the Prairie Hockey Academy U17 Prep team; the team played 34 games and finished with a record of 12-19.

The last time Prkusic played meaningful hockey was during the 2020-2021 season. Prkusic played in 24 games for Robert Morris University, contributing 25 total points (seven goals and 18 assists)—his second-highest point total during his college career. Prkusic’s most notable season came during the 2016-2017 season, playing for the Brooks Bandits, where he put up 58 points in the regular season (26 goals and 32 assists) while also adding 18 points in the playoffs (nine goals and nine assists). Prkusic is a nice addition to this Greenville roster having leadership experience on and off the ice as a former captain and coach.

You can watch Prkusic and the Swamp Rabbits take on the Norfolk Admirals when they start the regular season on October 21, 2023.
