Building up, the Swamp Rabbits are at it again with adding players to their upcoming 2023 season roster, as they announced that forward JD Greenway has signed a contract to the 2023-24 season. Greenway, 25, has played a season in the ECHL, along with two seasons with the AHL Bruins. Previously, during the 2022-23 season, Greenway played 21 games for the Providence Bruins, as he tallied up only two assists. The season before then, he skated in 26 games with the Maine Mariners of ECHL, as he marked only five assists to his record; he played 16 games and added just two assists for Providence before getting sent down to Mariners.
Greenway was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs’ 2016 NHL Draft. Before skating in the professional leagues, Greenway played four seasons for the University of Maine (NCAA). After his second season with UoM, however, Greenway played the 2018-2019 season for Dubuque Fighting Saints of USHL, where he scored nine goals and added 24 assists in 58 games. Greenway returned to UoM for two more seasons (2019-2021) after his final season in the USHL, playing 48 games and tallying up three goals plus 12 assists. The 6′ 6, Canton, NY native isn’t a known goal scorer, so it’s unclear where he might fit in with the Rabbits’ current roster; training camp is approaching, along with opening night.
The Swamp Rabbits opening night is coming closer and closer, as it begins on October 21 at 7:05 PM in Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
