Greenville, S.C. — As the Kelly Cup Finals is underway between the Kansas City Mavericks and the back-to-back Kelly Cup Championships Florida Everblades, the players on eliminated teams are now on the offseason break and making moves as to where they’ll play for the 2024-25 season. Today, it was reported that Greenville Swamp Rabbits‘ forward Nick Prkusic will play overseas in England next season for the Glasgow Clan of the EIHL. The 27-year-old from St. Albert, Alberta, played 45 games for the Rabbits last season and recorded four goals and 13 assists for 17 points. Prkusic didn’t see much action during the regular season, mainly being a healthy scratch to make room for other forwards. However, prior to the start of round one of the Kelly Cup Playoffs between the Orlando Solar Bears, Prkusic got the opportunity to play for his team, as he made his way on the third line as a right-wing/center.
During the short period of the playoffs for the Rabbits, the forward played all six games against the Solar Bears, tallying up just two points for two assists. Prkusic spent the majority of that time on the third line as a center and served as a big body presence in the o-zone and crease. Before inking his first professional contract in the “Coast” (ECHL), Prkusic did not see any action as a player during the 2022-23 season. Before that season, though, he played just one game for the Milestone Flyers of the QVHHL. Prior to that season, he was captain and played 24 games for Robert Morris University (NCAA), and managed to tally up seven goals and 18 assists for 25 points. He played four seasons for the NCAA university, his final two being his captaining seasons; in total, he played 128 games, scored 35 goals, and posted 51 assists for 81 points.
Prkusic will play for the Glasgow Clan of the EIHL next season. Many professional players have seen action in the English league, including Swamp Rabbits’ head coach Andrew Lord, who played and coached for the Cardiff Devils, along with d-man Sam Jardine.
