ECHL: Swamp Rabbits Sign Former Defenseman Sam Jardine

Greenville, SC—The ECHL 23-24 season is more than a month away, and the Swamp Rabbits still haven’t taken their foot off the gas in terms of building up their roster. On September 1, the club announced that they’ve signed former Rabbits d-man Sam Jardine to the upcoming season. Jardine, 30, played 67 regular season games for the Rabbits in the 2020-21 season, tallying up three goals and 41 assists. After that season with the Rabbits, Jardine tied up his skates to play in Europe for two seasons. During the 21-22 season, he played 14 games for the Bratislava Capitals and put up two goals and four assists before playing 21 games for HIFK, in which he had two goals plus three assists. During his 22-23 season, Jardine played for yet another team in Europe, Cardiff Devils, where he played 33 games and tallied up just four goals and eight assists; the Cardiff Devils were not a new team for Jardine, however, as he previously played 45 games during the 2019-20 season for them. The Lacombe, Alberta native has had a tremendous amount of playing experience in not just the ECHL and European league teams but also the AHL and NCAA. Jardine is no stranger to playing in Greenville, and with his experience, it’s safe to say that the Rabbits are in good hands for defense and playing influence.

(Optional): In other news, the Swamp Rabbits have announced that they will be hosting their neighboring team, Atlanta Gladiators, to a pre-season game at Bon Secours Wellness Arena. The Rabbits previously hosted a single pre-season game at Gas South Arena during the 2021 season against the Anyang Halla—a South Korean hockey team; the Rabbits would go to win that game 6-1.
