The Tahoe Knight Monsters have announced that they have signed defenseman Ryan Orgel for the 2024-25 season. Orgel will be joining his fourth ECHL team, having made a quick pitstop with both the Utah Grizzlies and Idaho Steelheads during the 2021-22 season before spending the past two seasons with the Adirondack Thunder. The 27-year-old defenseman has put up six goals and 28 assists for 34 points in 91 games in the ECHL; he would put up two goals and an assist for three points in five games during the Kelly Cup Playoffs with the Thunder. Orgel made his AHL debut last season, playing in one game with the Syracuse Crunch. He also spent 20 games in the SPHL with the Pensacola Ice Flyers during the 2022-23 season, where he put up two goals and 12 assists for 14 points before joining Adirondack
Prior to going pro, the Los Angeles, California native spent parts of four years at the NCAA level, two years with Denver University, and two seasons with the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Points. Orgel scored five goals and eight assists for 13 points in 28 games at the NCAA level; all 28 of his points came with the Pointers. This is a solid signing for the Knight Monsters, as Orgel will now get a fresh start with a new team after being released by Adirondack on March 18th, but I would expect Orgel to play a bigger role with the Knight Monsters and can be a guy that can play anywhere in the top six.
