The Tahoe Knight Monsters have announced their leadership group for their inaugural season. Forward Luke Adam will serve as the team’s captain, and Anthony Collins and Logan Nelson will serve as alternate captains.
The Captain
The 34-year-old Newfoundland native is a perfect choice to lead the Knight Monsters as he has plenty of experience under his belt, which includes parts of five seasons in the NHL with the Buffalo Sabres, who drafted him in the second round of the 2008 NHL Draft, and Columbus Blue Jackets, where he’s put up 15 goals and 11 assists for 26 points in 90 games. He’s also spent seven years at the AHL level with the Portland Pirates, Rochester Americans, Springfield Falcons, and Hartford Wolf Pack, putting up 105 goals and 127 assists for 232 points in 342 career games. Adams wore an “A” with the Americans during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons. Prior to joining Tahoe, he spent eight seasons overseas, which included seven years in Germany, before spending last year in Czechia and Slovakia.
The Alternates
Logan Nelson– The former fifth-round pick of the Buffalo Sabres is entering his 10th season in the ECHL as he’s played with the Quad City Mallards, Wichita Thunder, Rapid City Rush, Norfolk Admirals, Orlando Solar Bears, Fort Wayne Komets, Indy Fuel, and Atlanta Gladiators putting up 139 goals and 233 assists for 372 points in 510 career games. The Rogers, Minnesota native gas also skated in 17 career ECHL Playoff Games, putting up eight goals and seven assists for 15 points. Nelson has worn an “A” the last three seasons with Rapid City.
Anthony Collins– The 35-year-old winger is another player on the Knight Monsters with a ton of prior ECHL experience heading into his 12th season in the league as he’s spent time with the South Carolina Stingrays, Quad City Mallards, Rapid City Rush, Indy Fuel, Atlanta Gladiators, Kansas City Mavericks, Norfolk Admirals, Kalamazoo Wings, and Savannah Ghost Pirates putting up 35 goals and 55 assists for 88 points in 538 career games. Collins and Nelson have spent a lot of their career playing together as they’ve played with each other for seven seasons throughout their careers and will continue to bring that leadership and chemistry into Tahoe.
