ECHL: Tahoe Knight Monsters Re-Sign Linden Alger

The Tahoe Knight Monsters have announced that they’ve re-signed defenseman Linden Alger for the 2024-25 season. Alger would join the Knight Monsters after finishing up his last year of eligibility at UMass. He would play in two games with Tahoe at the end of the regular season and then would play in four Kelly Cup Playoff games, where he’d pick up his first career point in his first career Kelly Cup Playoff game. The rookie defenseman is the second defenseman and fourth Knight Monster signed to a contract for the 2025-26 season.

Linden Alger, 25, began his career in the USHL with the Youngstown Phantoms, where he put up two goals and four assists for six points in 48 games. The Centerville, Massachusetts native would attend school in-state, playing five seasons at UMass. Alger would put up six goals and nine assists for 15 points in 104 games; however, his first point didn’t come until his third season with the Mintuemen. In his final season at UMass, he served as the team captain and had a career year, scoring three goals and adding seven assists for 10 points while playing in all 40 games for the Minutemen. Alger would win a National Championship with the Mintuemen in 2021 and back-to-back Hockey East Championships in 2021 and 2022.

Linden isn’t the only one in his family who has a connection to hockey. His father, Rich Alger, has spent the last six seasons as a professional scout for the Washington Capitals.
