ECHL: Tanner Schachle Traded from Orlando to Worcester

Tanner Schachle, a 27-year-old left wing known for his size and physical play, was traded from the Orlando Solar Bears to the Worcester Railers in a confirmed transaction for future considerations. For the Railers, adding a player with Schachle’s strong physical presence and versatile on-ice abilities is a major boost as they look to towards the end of this season.

Standing at six-foot-four and weighing 218 lbs, Schachle is an imposing left wing who combines size with a physical style of play. Hailing from Wasilla, Alaska, Schachle has developed into a reliable presence on the ice, known for his aggressive play and ability to contribute in crucial moments. His left-handed shot and defensive abilities have made him a valuable asset throughout his career.

Pro Career

In the 2024–25 season, he started with the Orlando Solar Bears, appearing in two games while registering two penalty minutes. In the previous 2023–24 season, he featured in 50 games for the Solar Bears, where he recorded four goals and 12 assists for a total of 16 points, along with 72 penalty minutes. He also participated in four playoff games.

Before these recent seasons, Schachle split the 2022–23 season between the Rapid City Rush and the Norfolk Admirals. He played one game with Rapid City before joining the Admirals, where he made a notable impact in 33 games, scoring six goals and adding five assists for 11 points while accumulating 26 penalty minutes. In the 2021–22 season, Schachle balanced collegiate and professional play by appearing in five NCAA games for Long Island University—registering 19 penalty minutes—while also playing 49 games for the Rapid City Rush, where he notched three goals and eight assists (11 points) with 66 penalty minutes.

Collegiate Background

In the 2020–21 season with Long Island University, he played nine games, contributing one assist and 24 penalty minutes. His collegiate journey continued at the University of Alaska-Anchorage, where in the 2019–20 season he appeared in 32 games, recording seven goals and seven assists for a total of 14 points along with 54 penalty minutes. The previous 2018–19 season saw him play in 28 games, where he tallied two goals and four assists (6 points) and earned 56 penalty minutes.

The trade to the Worcester Railers represents a move to bolster the team’s forward group with added size, experience, and a strong physical presence. Schachle’s proven track record in the ECHL, along with his extensive NCAA background, makes him a significant asset expected to contribute both offensively and defensively for Worcester. His diverse experience and consistent performance in high-pressure situations are anticipated to play a key role for the Railers’ success in the upcoming weeks.
