The Toledo Walleye are adding another offensive weapon to their lineup, signing forward Kevin Gursoy for the 2025–26 season. At 26 years old, the LaSalle, Ontario native brings a blend of speed, scoring touch, and experience across multiple levels of hockey.
Early Career and Junior Success
Gursoy first gained recognition with the LaSalle Vipers (GOJHL), where he earned Western Conference All-Rookie Team honors and was named Top Points Rookie in 2016–17. His performance quickly marked him as a rising offensive talent.
He then advanced to the QMJHL, skating for the Saint John Sea Dogs, Charlottetown Islanders, and Halifax Mooseheads between 2017 and 2020. Gursoy proved to be a steady offensive contributor, recording multiple 40-point seasons and delivering key goals in playoff appearances. His blend of skill and competitiveness made him a valuable asset on every roster he joined.
University Development
After his junior career, Gursoy transitioned to U SPORTS hockey, competing for Ryerson University (later renamed Toronto Metropolitan University). Over four seasons, he emerged as a dependable two-way forward. His best campaign came in 2023–24, when he tallied 30 points in 28 games. In the postseason, he regularly elevated his play, highlighted by an eight-point playoff run in 2021–22.
Professional Opportunity in Toledo
Now turning pro full-time, Gursoy joins a Toledo team that values depth, versatility, and scoring punch. His ability to create offense both as a passer and finisher should give the Walleye flexibility across their forward lines. Fans can expect him to bring the same determination and energy that defined his time in LaSalle, Saint John, Charlottetown, Halifax, and Toronto.
With his track record of adapting and thriving in every league he’s played, Gursoy looks ready to make his mark in the ECHL and provide Toledo with another offensive spark for the upcoming season.
