ECHL: Toledo Walleye Re-Sign Brendon Michaelian

The Toledo Walleye have re-signed defenseman Brendon Michaelian to a contract for the 2024-25 season. Michaelian returns to Toledo after posting seven points on one goal and six assists in 29 games. He played in 14 playoff games, registering two assists and four penalty minutes. The 2024-25 season will be Michaelian’s first full season in the ECHL.

Michaelian spent three seasons with Robert Morris University, Ferris State University, and Mercyhurst College, putting up 11 goals and 38 assists for 49 points in 141 games. He would then join the Fayetteville Marksmen of the SPHL, where he posted two goals and 10 assists for 12 points in 22 games.

The Wixom, Michigan native made his Walleye debut last season and played well during his 29 games. He is a defense-first player who goaltenders love because he protects his teammates and goalies. His style of play suits Toledo because of their offensive style of play. He is a good signing and complements the recent signing of Jalen Smereck, who is more offensive. Michaelian is a player who shows great leadership and could wear a letter next season for the Walleye.

Michaelian is the 10th player Toledo has signed or re-signed this off-season. He joins defenseman Smereck and forwards Brandon Hawkins, Sam Craggs, Trenton Bliss, Casey Dornbach, Conlan Keenan, Brandon Kruse, Dalton Messina, and Darian Pilon as they pursue a Kelly Cup championship. Michaelian is a defensive player that all teams need come playoff time because he plays that style.
