The Toledo Walleye will be signing the University of St. Thomas forward Noah Prokop out of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). He has played this season with the University of St. Thomas and will be making his pro debut.
Prokop is a 6-foot-1 and 198-pound center who has also played in the NCAA for Colorado College and the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Over his last five seasons, he has produced eight goals and 13 assists for 21 points and 153 penalty minutes in 140 games.
Prokop plays a 200-foot game and is not afraid to get his nose dirty. He is a good middle-six player who is perfect for playoff hockey. He is a team player who always puts his teammates first and looks to pass the puck before taking a shot. He can play on any line and excel at whatever role he is put in.
The 24-year-old from Highlands Ranch, Colorado, should be a big addition to the Toledo Walleye roster as he will complement his teammates well. Plays a Walleye-style game, keeping things honest while creating offense. Head Coach Pat Mikesch could slot him in the bottom six to adjust him to pro hockey and possibly in a penalty-killing role.
Prokop does a lot of his damage from the high slot-in. He is dangerous when he has time and can execute with the smallest spaces, making it difficult to cover him. He is not afraid to play a physical style of hockey. A good, well-rounded player who should promote more offense through his work ethic. A former sixth-round pick of the Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League (USHL), he fits in with what the Walleye are trying to accomplish in the 2024 ECHL Kelly Cup playoffs.
In another Walleye transaction, the team placed forward Grant Loven on waivers and has returned to the Fayetteville Marksmen of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL). He had one assist in 15 games with the Walleye. For the Marksmen, he has 11 goals and 20 assists for 31 points in 33 games.
