The Toledo Walleye of the ECHL have announced that forward Trenton Bliss has been recalled to the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League(AHL). This move comes after forward Austin Czarnik from the Griffins was recalled to the Detroit Red Wings after forward Daniel Sprong will sit out for a reset.
Aside from teammate Brandon Hawkins, Bliss has been the best player on the Walleye roster this season. Bliss has 22 goals and 38 assists for 60 points in 53 games for Toledo. He has appeared in two games for Grand Rapids this season, totaling one assist. He has been on fire as of late, producing two goals and two assists for four points in his last five games and five goals and seven assists for 12 points in his last ten.
The 6’1, 194-pound center and left winger has been consistent overall and could be in line for a full-time roster spot with the Griffins next season. He has shown that he can be equally as effective on a regular shift as he can be on the power play. For the most part of the last two weeks, he has been on the top line for Toledo, playing with Hawkins and Conlan Keenan. That line has been on fire, and it looks like they will be together until something goes wrong.
The former Michigan Tech player showed glimpses of stardom in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). He finished his college career with 42 goals and 65 assists for 107 points in 138 games. He was then assigned to the Griffins, and that is when he started to blossom into a solid forward for the organization.
While we do not know how long he will be in Grand Rapids, we can be assure that he will perform greatly as he has done in his short professional career.
