Toledo Walleye defenseman Tanner Palocsik is heading overseas, adding to the growing list of key departures from the roster. As rumors swirl and confirmed moves by other standout players continue to surface, the team’s core is undergoing a significant reshaping.
From College Standout to Pro
Palocsik’s journey began in the Pittsburgh minor hockey scene before he committed to Dartmouth College, where he played four seasons and served as team captain his senior year. Taking advantage of a fifth year of NCAA eligibility, he transferred to Penn State to complete his collegiate career. Across five NCAA seasons, Palocsik appeared in 129 games and recorded 82 points (15 goals, 67 assists), establishing himself as a steady, playmaking defenseman with consistent impact.
He joined the Walleye in September 2024, making his professional debut later that season. In March 2025, he scored his first pro goal against the Atlanta Gladiators. Although his time with Toledo was brief—spanning 50 regular-season games—Palocsik made his presence known, recording one goal and two assists. While he did not appear in the team’s postseason lineup, his contributions during his lone ECHL campaign were nonetheless appreciated.
Looking Ahead: A Challenging Offseason for the Walleye Fans
With confirmed departures from Jan Bednar, Trent Bliss, Tyler Spezia, and now Palocsik, the Walleye roster is entering a period of significant transition. Fans are now turning their attention to ongoing speculation surrounding Sam Cragg, Patrick Lewandowski, and Brandon Hawkins — moves that could further reshape the team’s future.
All ECHL teams must finalize their Season-Ending Rosters by the 3 p.m. EDT deadline on Sunday, June 22.
