The Florida Everblades made several player transactions yesterday and today, including releasing two players from contract, signing one player to a contract, and signing a player from the now-defunct Newfoundland Growlers.
The Everblades released forward PJ Fletcher and defenseman Pito Walton from their contracts. Fletcher signed his first professional contract on March 25 and played in two games for the Everblades. Walton signed his first professional contract on March 28 and played in one game before being released on waivers. The Savannah Ghost Pirates claimed him off waivers today.
Forward Isaac Nurse signed his first professional player contract yesterday. Nurse spent the last four years playing for the University of New Brunswick. He scored 24 goals and 17 assists in 84 games for the Reds.
The AHL Hartford Wolf Pack loaned defenseman Zach Berzolla to the Everblades. Berzolla has appeared in 24 games this year with the Wolf Pack and the Cincinnati Cyclones.
Todd Skirving, 31, a native of Thunder Bay, ON, signed with the Florida Everblades today. He turned pro in 2017 and played for three teams in the ECHL. He joined the Newfoundland Growlers in 2018 and has played for them since. He was named the Growlers’ assistant captain in 2021 and captain this year. Skirving has played 297 games in the ECHL, scoring 74 goals and 73 assists. He won the Kelly Cup Championship with the Growlers in 2018.
Florida returns home to host the Jacksonville Icemen for a two-game series starting tonight. Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m. at Hertz Arena.
