The Trois-Rivieres Lions and Fort Wayne Komets struck a deal on Tuesday afternoon. The Komets sent the rights to forward Morgan Adams-Moisan to the Lions in exchange for the rights to forward Matthew Boucher; the Lions have since signed Adams-Moisan to a contract for the 2024-25 season.
Trade Impact For Trois-Rivieres
If Adams-Moisan is able to stay healthy after battling injuries over the past few seasons, this could be a huge addition to the Lions’ roster. Heading into the next season, the Lions will be in need of a captain after Cedric Montminy, who served as the Lion’s captain for the first three seasons, announced his retirement earlier this summer, and Adam-Moison does have previous experience in that role and could be one of the candidates to wear the “C” next year for the Lions. The La Tuque, Quebec winger has also shown that he has no problem throwing his body around or dropping the gloves, as he picked up 123 penalty minutes in just 37 games during the 2020-21 season and had 51 penalty minutes in 27 games last year with Fort Wayne.
Adams-Moisan was named the captain of the Komets last October and would play in 27 games with the Komets, putting up 12 goals and five assists for 17 points before leaving the Komets to spend the rest of the season in Germany, where he played in six total games with the Bietighiem Steelers in the DEL2. The 27-year-old winger has spent four seasons in the ECHL, putting up 44 goals and 29 assists for 73 points in 161 games while spending time with the Maine Mariners and Fort Wayne Komets; he would win a Kelly Cup with the Komets in 2021. He has also played in 64 AHL games, putting up two goals and two assists for four points while spending time with the Laval Rocket, San Diego Gulls, and Rockford Ice Hogs.
Trade Impact For Fort Wayne
For the Komets, they get a winger who has put up solid numbers over the course of his four years in the ECHL. Heading into next season, Boucher could be a really solid fit for the Komets in their top-six, and if he performs the way he has in the past, it wouldn’t be a shock if he gets an opportunity at the AHL level with the Bakersfield Condors in the AHL. Boucher has yet to sign a contract with the Komets for the 2024-25 season.
Boucher has 56 goals and 54 assists for 110 points in 104 ECHL games, having played with the Utah Grizzlies, Iowa Heartlanders, and Trois-Rivieres Lions. The 26-year-old forward would win Rookie of the Year in 2021, having scored 25 goals and 27 assists for 52 points in 59 games as a member of the Grizzlies and adding a goal and an assist during the 2021 Kelly Cup Playoffs. Boucher also has 72 games of AHL experience under his belt, where he’s put up eight goals and 16 assists while spending time as a member of the Colorado Eagles and Belleville Senators. The Los Angeles, California native had a six-game point streak before he suffered a season-ending injury in January.
