ECHL: Trois-Rivieres Lions Announce 2024-25 Season Opening Roster

Elisa Ouellet/InsideTheRink

The Trois-Rivieres Lions announced their 2024-25 season-opening roster earlier today as they will open up their season tomorrow night vs Reading Royals. For Trois-Rivieres, they lost a lot of key pieces on the blue line, but they did bring back their leading scorer in Jakov Novak, and they have some strong goaltending with two guys coming down from the Laval Rocket and Zachary Emond as a solid third goaltender.

The Roster

Jonathan Yantisis (F)

Xavier Cormier (F)

Morgan Adams-Moisan (F)

Jakov Novak (F)

Anthonty Beauchamp (F)

Tyler Hylland (F)

Israel Mianscum (F)

Charles-Antoine Paiement (F)

Anthony Beauregard (F)

Alex Beaucage (F)

William Provost (F)

Tommy Cormier (F)

Logan Nijhoff (F)

Wyatt McLeod (D)

Mathieu Boislard (D)

Brycen Martin (D)

Vincent Sevigny (D)

Kirby Proctor (D)

Jacob Paquette (D)

Cory Thomas (D)

Lukash Matthews (D)

Zachary Emond (G)

Hunter Jones (G)

Luke Cavallin (G)

Reserves/IR

Zachary Emond (G) (Reserve)- The fact that Emond is the third goaltender in Trois-Rivieres just shows how strong their goaltending is heading into the 2024-25 season. Emond, in his first year with the Lions, put up a 9-7-1 record with a 2.81 GAA, .907SV%, and three shutouts, two of which came in the final weekend vs Worcester Railers to get the Lions into the Kelly Cup Playoffs. Trois-Rivieres doesn’t play a three-in-three until mid-November, but I expect Emond to get at least one start before then.

Mathieu Boislard (D) (Reserve)- The 22-year-old defenseman was the only player that would make the Lions season-opening roster after coming to camp on an invite. Boislard split last season between the FPHL, where he played in 20 games, and the Binghampton Black Bears, where he put up a goal and 12 assists for 13 points, along with 75 penalty minutes. He would then make the jump to the SPHL, where he played 30 games with the Knoxville Ice Bears, where he put up a goal and two assists for three points, along with 95 penalty minutes in 30 games. The Fleurimont, Quebec native is going to be a physical presence when he is able to find his way into the lineup.

Kirby Proctor (D) (14 Day IR)- This doesn’t come as a surprise as Matthew Vachon of Le Nouvelliste reported earlier that Kirby Proctor would be out until at least November. This is a huge loss for the Lions as Proctor put up seven goals and eight assists for 15 points in 40 games in his final season at the University of Nebraska-Omaha before finishing up the year in Trois-Rivieres where he played in three regular-season games and played in all six Kelly Cup Playoff games for the Lions. Once Proctor is able to return, I expect him to give a big boost to the Trois-Rivieres blue line.
