The Trois-Rivieres Lions have announced that Morgan Adams-Moisan has been named the team’s second captain in team history after Cedric Montminy announced his retirement from professional hockey earlier this Summer. Jakov Novak, Brycen Martin, and Anthony Beauregard will serve as the team’s assistant captains.
This isn’t the first time Adams-Moisan has served as a captain, as he spent time as the captain of the Fort Wayne Komets last season before heading over to Germany, where he played in just four games with the Bietigheim Steelers. This is a smart move for the Lions as they bring in someone who has prior leadership experience and has 161 games of ECHL experience under his belt as he’s spent time with the Maine Mariners and Fort Wayne Komets, where he’s put up 44 goals, and 29 assists along with 339 PIMS for 73 points.
Assistant Captains
Jakov Novak- There’s no doubt that this is a well-deserved honor for Novak after he led the Lions offensively, putting up 30 goals and 26 assists for 56 points in his first full season in the ECHL. The 25-year-old forward has had experience wearing a letter on his chest as he wore an “A” in his final year in the NAHL with the Janesville Jets. He would again wear an “A” in his final year of eligibility at the NCAA level with Northeastern University.
Brycen Martin- The most experienced player on the Lions will have an “A” on his chest as Martin is entering his ninth season. Martin,28, has put up 25 goals and 98 assists for 123 points in 374 games while playing with nine different ECHL teams throughout his career. He’s added two assists in 10 career Kelly Cup Playoff Games. The Calgary, Alberta native previously wore an “A” during the 2021-22 season when he played 19 games with the Maine Mariners.
Anthony Beauregard- The 28-year-old forward is entering his ninth year of professional hockey, which includes eight years in North America and a year overseas in Switzerland. Beauregard has put up respectable numbers throughout his ECHL career, putting up 78 goals and 112 assists for 190 points in 258 games, including the last two seasons in Trois-Rivieres. The St-Damase, Quebec native wore an “A” in his final two seasons in the QMJHL with the Val-d’Or Foreurs.
