The Trois-Rivieres Lions have announced that they have signed center Ryan Brushett for the 2024-25 season. Brushett joins the Lions after spending the past five seasons at the NCAA level with three different schools: University of Nebraska-Omaha, UMass-Lowell, and RPI, where he would put up 18 goals and 60 assists for 78 points in 150 games; he would play alongside Kirby Proctor at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. The Quebec native would spend three years in the BCHL prior to making the jump to the NCAA level, where he would 72 goals and 87 assists for 159 points in 163 games with the Vernon Vipers, Surrey Eagles, and Powell River Kings, he would put up 41 goals and 43 assists for 84 points in 55 games in his final year in the BCHL, those 41 goals led the league.
This is the Lions’ first new signing for the 2024-25 season, as their first eight seasons were players who were with the team during the 2023-24 season. There’s a lot to like about Brushett, and the first thing that stands out is that he can play down the middle and they always say that you can never have too many centers. The 26-year-old center has shown that he has some offensive upside but hasn’t been played anywhere for more than two seasons over the course of his young career. As the Lions continue to build their roster for the 2024-25 season, I would expect Brushett to be a guy who could fit in well on the bottom six for the Lions as they head into next season.
