Today was the first day that ECHL teams could start signing players for the 2024-25 season, and the Trois-Rivieres Lions became the first team to announce a signing as they have re-signed forward Anthony Beauregard. The 28-year-old forward will be entering his third season with the Lions and his sixth year in the ECHL as he’s put up 78 goals and 112 assists for 190 points in 258 games while spending time with the Indy Fuel, Brampton Beast, Wichita Thunder, and Trois-Rivieres Lions, he’s added three goals and three assists for six points in 15 career Kelly Cup Games. Beaugard has also spent two seasons overseas. He played in the UK with the Dundee Stars during the 2019-20 season, where he put up 17 goals and 29 assists for 46 points in 48 games, and he would spend the 2021-22 season in Switzerland, where he would put up 14 goals, and 27 assists for 41 points in 50 games.
This is a strong start for the Lions, bringing back a veteran like Beauregard. He is coming off a strong, decent season, where he put up 15 goals and 17 assists for 32 points in 54 games last season and added a goal and an assist in six Kelly Cup Playoff Games. The signing of Beauregard becomes the first of four veteran signings that the Lions will be allowed to make during the off-season. The Quebec native also wore an “A” for the Lions during the 2023-24 season, and it would be hard to imagine that this will change heading into next season.
