ECHL: Trois-Rivières Lions Bring Back Rookie Defenseman

The Trois-Rivières Lions continued their signing spree on Thursday, as they announced they’ve re-signed defenseman Emmett Serensits. It is the first defensemen that the team has re-signed this off-season. The Oakville, Ontario native played in 28 games while putting three goals and 10 assists for 13 points before joining the Lions this season. In 10 regular-season games with the Lions, he had one assist. Serensits also played in four Kelly Cup Playoffs. There wasn’t much time for TR go get a look at him as they had a very crowded blueline. Trois-Rivieres has already started clearing room on the blueline with Cory Thomas going to Orlando in a trade and Kyle Havlena going overseas. He becomes the third member of the Lions to head overseas joining Alex Beaucage and Havlena. Serensits is one of four defenseman on the season-ending roster that spent ended the year with TR and is still with the team.

Prior to going pro, Emmett Serensits played three seasons in the OHL with the Sudbury Wolves and four seasons in USports with the University of Toronto. During his time with the Wolves, he would put up six goals and 43 assists for 49 points in 187 games. He led the Wolves in assists (24) during the 2019-20 season. Serensits also saw action in five OHL Playoff Games. During his time in USports, he put up nine goals and 36 assists for 45 points in 97 games. He saw action in 15 playoff games in USports while putting up three assists.
