ECHL: Trois-Rivieres Lions Injury Report | 01/17/2025

The Trois-Rivieres Lions dealt with their fair share of injuries last week, as they played two skaters short in Sunday’s game vs Reading Royals. Earlier this week, the Lions went out and signed Daryk Dube-Plouffe to a contract to help fill roster spots with some of the injuries that had occurred. On Friday Morning, the team announced several updates on some injured Lions. However, there was some good news: the Lions will get Chris Jandric back in the lineup for this weekend’s series vs Norfolk Admirals.

Shorter-Term Injuries

The Lions announced that three players, Alex Beucage, Nicolas Guay, and Israel Mianscum, are day-to-day.

Alex Beaucage– The 23-year-old forward is currently day-to-day with an upper-body injury. Thankfully for the Lions, this isn’t a long-term injury, as Beaucage has 13 goals and 12 assists for 25 points in just 16 games this year, as he’s tied for first on the team in goals (13) and is fourth on the team in points (25). Beaucage is currently riding a seven-game points streak where he has five goals and six assists for 11 points; he has at least one point in 15 of his 16 games played this season with the Lions.

Nicolas Guay– Just like Beaucage, Guay is currently day-to-day with a lower-body injury. Guay re-joined the Lions in mid-November after beginning his season in Slovakia, where he had two goals and three assists for five points in 11 games. In 22 games with TR, he has five goals and 13 assists for 18 points, including eight in his last 10 games.

Israel Mianscum– The 21-year-old rookie forward got off to a great start this season as he had two goals and five assists for seven points before going down with an injury in early November. He has not played in a game since November 9th. This is some promising news for the Lions, as despite losing a lot of key players to injuries, they may be getting a big piece back in the lineup soon. Prior to joining the Lions, the Mistissini, Quebec native, spent five seasons in the QMJHL, where he put up 96 goals and 119 assists for 215 points in 264 games.

Longer-Term Injuries

The Lions announced that two players, Anthony Beauregard and Jonathan Yantsis, have injuries that may take a little longer to heal. Both are week to week.

Anthony Beauregard– This is a loss that the Lions are going to feel on the ice and in the locker room, as the 29-year-old forward was named as one of the assistant captains before the season. In 32 games this season, he has 11 goals and 20 assists for 31 points. This is a bounce-back year for the St-Damase, Quebec native, who had just 15 goals and 17 assists for 32 points last year; however, in his first year with TR, he had 26 goals and 23 assists for 49 points in 54 games. Beauregard played in all three games for the Lions last weekend in Reading, so the injury he suffered must have worsened as this week went on.

Jonathan Yantsis—The 25-year-old winger has had a rough start to the season, but he has five goals and three assists for eight points in 21 games. Yantsis missed the first eight games of the season because he had to finish serving his suspension for the hit he threw on Darick Louis-Jean during the first round of the 2024 Kelly Cup Playoffs. This injury comes as the Scarborough, Ontario native has found his groove, as he has points in three of his last four games.
