The Trois-Rivières Lions have announced that they have signed forward Anthony Beauchamp to a contract for the 2023-24 season. Beauchamp joins the Lions after spending the last two seasons with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, where he put up 31 goals and 44 assists for 75 points; he would add one assist in 12 Kelly Cup Playoff Games. The 25-year-old served as one of the assistant captains for the Swamp Rabbits last season and played in all 72 regular season games. Prior to making the jump to the ECHL, the Quebec forward played three years in USports, spending two years at Concordia University and a year at the University of Toronto, where he put up five goals and 10 assists for 15 points in 40 games. He also spent four years in the QMJHL, putting up 17 goals and 27 assists for 44 points in 152 games with three different teams.
For the Lions, this is a solid signing for the team as they add a player with prior experience in the ECHL, which will be key for them after losing a lot of players who decided to take the overseas route. Heading into next season, expect Beauchamp to be a guy who can provide leadership for the Lions as well as a guy who could net anywhere between 15-20 goals and be a solid piece on the second line for Trois-Rivieres. Beauchamp becomes the 10th signing and sixth forward that Trois-Rivieres has signed for the 2024-25 season.
