The Trois-Rivières Lions have signed defenseman Jacob Paquette to an ECHL contract for the rest of the 2023-24 ECHL season. Paquette, 24, has spent the last four seasons at Queens University, where he put up four goals and 18 assists for 22 points in 61 games as the Golden Gaels would win the gold medal during Universiade in 2023.
Prior to his time at Usports, he spent five seasons in the OHL, where he played with the Kingston Frontenacs, Niagara Ice Dogs, and Peterborough Petes, where he put up 13 goals and 71 assists for 84 points in 296 games. This a solid signing for a TR team that has struggled after a strong start as they currently sit Sixth in the North with a record of 19-24-3-2, but they are just five points out of a playoff position. Hopefully, some new faces can help the Lions right the ship with a little under two months to go
