The Trois-Rivieres Lions have announced that they’ve signed forward Daryk Dube-Plouffe. He was one of seven players at the Lions Traning Camp on a PTO after playing in two games with the team during the 2023-24 season. This doesn’t come as much of a shock as the Lions were in desperate need of bodies after playing Sunday’s game vs Reading Royals two skaters short. The Trois-Rivieres native has five goals and 12 assists for 17 points in 27 games this season in the SPHL with the Knoxville Ice Bears.
Prior to going pro, the 22-year-old forward spent four seasons in the MJAHL with the Miramichi Timberwolves and Campbellton Tigers. In 98 games at the MJAHL level, he put up 67 goals and 104 assists for 171 points. He would lead the league in assists (61) and points (99), and he was named to the All-Star team during the 2022-23 season. Along with playing in two games with TR last season, he would spend time in the LHSAAAQ, where he had three goals and four assists in seven games. He would also play in 16 games with the Ice Bears, where he had a goal and four assists for five points.
Injuries
The Lions have put forward Nicolas Guay on the 3-Day IR after he missed Saturday and Sunday’s games in Reading. Guay began the season overseas in Slovakia with HC Nove Zamky, where he put up two goals and three assists for five points. Since rejoining the Lions, he’s put up five goals and 13 assists for 18 points in 22 games.
Jonathan Yantsis, who played in two out of the three games last weekend, has now been moved to the 14-Day IR. In 21 games this season, he has five goals and three assists for eight points. Alex Beaucage was placed on regular reserve today. However, he did miss Sunday’s game. This would be a major loss for the Lions as Beaucage has gotten off to a red-hot start, putting up 13 goals and 12 assists for 25 points in 16 games with the Lions.
