The Tulsa Oilers are experiencing a significant shift as they bid farewell to another player heading to Overseas Teams. This announcement marks the Fourth player to leave the organization in the past two weeks. Last week saw Conner Roulette heading back to school, while Andrew Lucas and Olivier Dame-Malka headed across the pond. The latest to head out is Michael Farren. His departure will undoubtedly leave a void in the team. Farren is heading to Slovakia with the HK 32 Liptovsky Mikulas. The Oilers released their protected list on Monday. Roulette, Dame-Malka, and Farren are on that list, allowing the Oilers to keep their rights and the possibility of them returning to the team at a later date.

History

Michael Farren, a 25-year-old Right winger, has a journey in hockey that started in his childhood. He attended the prestigious Okanagan Prep and then went on to play AAA hockey with the Valley West Hawks in the British Columbia Elite Hockey League before joining the Western Hockey League (WHL). Once in the WHL (Western Hockey League) Farren would spend 133 games with the Saskatoon Blades, 91 games with the Kelowna Rockets and 24 with the Swift Current Broncos where he would earn the Alternate Captains A. Farren’s journey continued as he joined the PJHL (Provincial Junior Hockey League), seeing one game with the Delta Ice Hawks before heading overseas and joining the Alps Hockey League. Based in Linz, Farren spent 38 games with the AlpsHL’s Steel Wings.

Farren joined the Oilers in the 2022-23 season. During his time with the Oilers, Michael played in 170 games over three seasons, scoring 49 goals, 58 assists, and 107 total points. His career with the Oilers was plagued by injuries, allowing Farren only to see 57 games his first season, and 49 his second. Farren’s best season, with 24 goals and assists amassed through his tenure, occurred this past 2024-2025 season. During the 24-25 season, Farren would join Tulsa’s AHL affiliate, the San Diego Gulls, for one game with no scoring credited to him.
