ECHL: Tulsa Oilers Sign Three Players for the Upcoming Season

The Tulsa Oilers have announced that they have signed defenseman Trevor Thurston, forward Dallas Comeau, and forward Serron Noel for the 2024-25 ECHL season.

Trevor Thurston’s Career

Trevor Thurston is a 22 year old 6’2″ defenseman from North Delta, British Columbia. Thurston started his junior career in the 2018-19 season and spent it playing for the Kamloops Blazers, Lethbridge Hurricanes, and Prince Albert Raiders in the WHL. In his five WHL seasons, Thurston played in 107 games where he had 13 goals and 14 assists for 27 points. He had 215 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -21. He played in three playoff games where he did not register any points and had six penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -2. Thurston also spent part of the 2022-23 season in the BCHL and QMJHL. In the BCHL, Thurston played two game with the Merritt Centennials where he had one goal and two assists for three points with two penalty minutes. In the QMJHL, Thurston played 48 games with the Cape Breton Eagles where he had nine goals and and 12 assists for 21 points. He had 89 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of +4. Thurston played four playoff games with the Eagles where he did not register any points and had 18 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -2.

Thurston then started his professional career in the 2023-24 season in the ECHL. He played with the Orlando Solar Bears, Reading Royals, and Tulsa Oilers. He played in 33 games between the three teams where he had two goals and two assists for four points. He had 46 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -4. Thurston played in 19 games with the Oilers where he had one goal and one assist for two points. He also played in two playoff games with the Oilers where he did not have any points and had two penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -3.

The 2024-25 season will be Thurston’s second season of professional hockey and second season in the ECHL.

Dallas Comeau’s Career

Dallas Comeau is a 26 year old, 5’11” forward from Kelowna, British Columbia. Comeau started his collegiate career in the 2018-19 season playing Division I hockey at the University of Vermont. In his four seasons at Vermont, Comeau played in 61 games where he had three goals and six assists for nine points. He had 32 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -12. Comeau started his professional career in the 2022-23 season and has since split his time between the SPHL and ECHL. In the SPHL, Comeau played 60 games for the Pensacola Ice Flyers where he has 20 goals and 23 assists for 43 points. He has 37 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -6. In two playoff games with the Ice Flyers, he does not have any points or penalty minutes and has a plus/minus of -2. In the ECHL, Comeau has split his time between the Savannah Ghost Pirates and Tulsa Oilers. Between the two teams, Comeau has played in 30 games where he has one goal and six assists for seven points. He has zero penalty minutes and a plus/minus of +4. With the Oilers, Comeau played in 19 games where he had zero goals and five assists for five points. He had zero penalty minutes and a plus/minus of +6.

The 2024-25 season will be Comeau’s third professional season and second season with the Tulsa Oilers.

Serron Noel’s Career

Serron Noel is a 24 year old, 6’5″ forward from Ottawa, Ontario. Noel started his junior career in the 2016-17 season and spent it playing for the Oshawa Generals and Kitchener Rangers in the OHL. In his four OHL seasons, Noel played in 241 games where he had 88 goals and 114 assists for 202 points. He had 203 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -2. In 28 playoff games, he had five goals and ten assists for 15 points. He had 39 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of +1. Noel also won a gold medal with Team Canada at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup in the 2017-18 season. In the tournament, Noel played in five games where he had one goal and zero assists for one point with two penalty minutes.

Serron Noel started his professional career in the 2020-21 season and spent his first two seasons in the AHL with the Syracuse Crunch and Charlotte Checkers. Between the two teams, Noel played in a total of 72 games where he had six goals and 18 assists for 24 points. He had 87 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -1. In five playoff games with the Checkers, Noel had one goal and zero assists for one point with two penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -1. Noel spent the 2022-23 season in the ECHL with the Florida Everblades. In seven games, Noel had zero goals and one assist for one point. He had 19 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of +1. In the 2023-24 season, Noel started the season in the Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League (EOSHL) with the Arnprior Rivermen. In one game with the Rivermen, Noel did not have any points and had four penalty minutes. Noel then joined the Newfoundland Growlers where he played until the team became defunct. In 12 games with the Growlers, Noel had two goals and zero assists for two points. He had 51 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -1.

The 2024-25 season will be Noel’s fifth professional season and third season in the ECHL.

All three of these guys will be playing in their first full season with the Tulsa Oilers but should have really good seasons with the Oilers. They should all be pretty good in their respective positions and should be able to help Tulsa find success this season.
