ECHL: Tulsa Oilers: Veteran Center Alec Butcher Re-Signs

Alec Butcher is a veteran in the world of the ECHL, and fits the mold for the Tulsa Oilers. Butcher has re-signed for his sixth full professional season.

In the 2023-2024 season, Butcher spent a majority of the season with Tulsa after being traded by the Reading Royals for Tag Bertuzzi. Butcher played in 56 games with Tulsa and tallied 18 goals with 16 assists. Before the trade, he played in 15 games for Reading and tallied four goals with three assists.

Butcher hails from Anchorage, Alaska. When he began his professional playing career, Butcher started with the Wheeling Nailers where he played in 36 games and gathered 12 goals with seven assists. Butcher sits at 301 ECHL games played with 93 goals and 102 assists. Including Wheeling, he has played for Rapid City Rush, Reading Royals, and has now found a home with the Tulsa Oilers.

Before becoming professional, Butcher played at NCAA Sacred Heart University and University of Alaska-Anchorage. In 96 college games, he tallied 16 goals with 36 assists. In his senior year with Anchorage, Butcher gathered eight goals and five assists. Butcher played in the NAHL for Kenai River Brown Bears. He dressed for 101 games and notched 34 goals with 62 assists.
