The Idaho Steelheads have announced that they have re-signed 6’2″ forward Ty Pelton-Byce.
Junior and Collegiate Career
Ty Pelton-Byce started his junior career in the 2013-14 season playing in the USHL. In two seasons, he played with the Muskegon Lumberjacks and Des Moines Buccaneers. In 62 games played, Pelton-Byce had 15 goals and 29 assists for 44 points with 18 penalty minutes and a +6.
Pelton-Byce then started his collegiate career, playing Division I hockey at Harvard University. In two seasons with Harvard, he played in 66 games, where he had 11 goals and 22 assists for 33 points with 22 penalty minutes and a +3. In the 2016-17 season, Pelton-Byce and Harvard won the ECAC Championship.
After two seasons with Harvard, the Madison, Wisconsin native entered the transfer portal, finding a spot at the University of Wisconsin. Pelton-Byce did not play in the 2018-19 season due to the transfer portal rule, but then spent two seasons playing for Wisconsin, serving as an alternate captain in his final season. In 56 games with Wisconsin, Pelton-Byce had 21 goals and 34 assists for 55 points with eight penalty minutes and a +9. In the 2020-21 season, Pelton-Byce was an Honorable Mention for the B1G All-Star Team and won the B1G Regular Season with the Badgers.

Professional Career
After completing his collegiate career, Pelton-Byce signed with the AHL’s Manitoba Moose. Since starting his professional career, he has also been called up to the Texas Stars and the Henderson Silver Knights. In 31 AHL games, Pelton-Byce had two goals and two assists with ten penalty minutes and a -8.
In the ECHL, Pelton-Byce has spent time with the Newfoundland Growlers and Idaho Steelheads. In 176 games in the ECHL, he has 63 goals and 113 assists for 176 points with 78 penalty minutes and a +47. Pelton-Byce has played in 30 playoff games, where he has 14 goals and 19 assists for 33 points with ten penalty minutes and a +10. In the 2024-25 season, Pelton-Byce played in 59 games with the Steelheads, where he had 24 goals and 37 assists for 61 points with 28 penalty minutes and a +1.
The 2025-26 season will be Pelton-Byce’s fourth season with the Steelheads. He has been a huge part of the Steelheads’ success in recent seasons. Pelton-Byce has averaged over a point per game every season with the Steelheads. With the Steelheads losing players like Matt Register and AJ White, Pelton-Byce’s offensive power should be a huge positive for the Steelheads in the 2025-26 season.
