The Orlando Solar Bears have re-signed 28-year-old forward and captain, Tyler Bird, for the 2025–26 ECHL season. A consistent presence in Orlando’s lineup since 2019, Bird enters his sixth full campaign with the club, bringing a mix of leadership, grit, and offensive production.

2024–25 Recap

Bird played all 72 regular season games for the Solar Bears in 2024–25, recording 20 goals and 18 assists for 38 points, along with 48 penalty minutes and a -2 rating. He added four goals and four assists in 12 playoff games, continuing to make an impact in high-pressure situations.

Drafted, Developed, and Proven

Originally drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the fifth round (#137 overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, Bird developed through the NCAA ranks at Brown University. He turned pro in 2018 and logged ECHL time with Greenville, Reading, and Wheeling before landing in Orlando. Bird has also earned multiple AHL call-ups, appearing in games for Syracuse and San Jose.

A Veteran Voice on and off the Ice

Since arriving in Orlando, Bird has become a staple in the forward group. Over the past three seasons, he has played in every regular-season game, posting back-to-back 70+ game seasons and wearing the “A” as an alternate captain in 2023–24. He brings a physical edge and veteran poise to Orlando’s top nine, often contributing in key defensive matchups and special teams.

Looking Ahead

Bird’s return helps anchor a Solar Bears lineup looking to build off last season’s playoff run. His ability to battle along the boards, drive the net, and lead by example makes him a key piece in the locker room and on the scoresheet.

The Solar Bears will open the 2025–26 season at home on Friday, October 17th, when they host the Florida Everblades. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 PM EDT at the Amway Center.
