The Utah Grizzlies are losing their leading scorer from last season as Brandon Cutler is heading overseas to play in Germany. Cutler had spent the previous three seasons with the Grizzlies putting up 61 goals and 61 assists for 122 points in 127 games, including 36 goals and 29 assists for 65 points while playing in all 72 games this season. The 24-year-old winger played with 54 AHL games with 36 of the 54 coming with the Abbotsford Canucks and the remaining 18 split between the Belleville Senators, Hartford Wolf Pack, and Colorado Eagels, he would put up three goals and six assists for nine points in those 54 games.
Prior to joining the ECHL, the Alberta native played five years in the WHL with the Red Deer Rebels and Victoria Royals, where he would put up 47 goals and 59 assists for 106 points in 258 games. Cutler is the second Grizzlie to head overseas after Brandon Stapley is going to Slovakia. This is a huge loss for the Grizzlies as they have lost their top two offensive players from last season. There have also been rumors about defenseman Josh Wesley heading overseas, but nothing has yet to be confirmed on that front. Wesley led all ECHL blueliners with 18 goals and 22 assists for 40 points in 57 games. The former fourth-round pick of the Carolina Hurricanes joined Utah after spending the 2022-23 season in Czechia. He had spent the previous six seasons in the AHL and ECHL.
