The Utah Grizzlies have added defenseman Kabore Dunn to their roster for the upcoming 2024-25 season. Dunn, born on November 10th, 2001, in Mill Bay, British Columbia, is a 22-year-old right-handed defenseman standing at 6’2″ and weighing 179 lbs. Dunn is the second signing for the Grizzlies this off-season after the team re-signed forward Luke Manning. Manning had two goals and six assists for eight points in 14 games with the Grizzlies last season after finishing up his collegiate career at the University of St. Thomas.
Dunn began his college career at the University of Maine from 2020-2022. During the 2021-22 season, he played 29 games with the BCHL’s Trail Smoke Eaters, registering one goal and 10 assists. Dunn then made his way to Lindenwood University, where he accumulated 19 points (two goals, 17 assists) in 46 games and would lead all Lion defensemen in assists and points last season with 11. At Lindenwood, he pursued a major in marketing and is now ready to take the next step in his hockey career. Prior to making the jump to the NCAA level, Dunn spent one year in the AJHL with the Fort McMurray Oil Barrons, where he would put up 10 goals and 20 assists for 30 points and would be named to the AJHL North All-Rookie Team
Known for his smooth and deceptive puck-handling abilities, Dunn utilizes his length to effectively separate opponents from the puck. He demonstrates a knack for making plays through the middle and has the skill to connect with teammates using both his backhand and forehand. Additionally, Dunn employs shoulder fakes to outmaneuver forecheckers often. With his impressive skill set, Dunn is poised to make a significant impact with the Grizzlies.
