ECHL: Wheeling Nailers Find Venue For Saturday Night vs Cincinnati Cyclones

Friday evening, the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL announced changes to their schedule due to unforeseen weather conditions. While the team waits on confirmation for a rescheduled date and time for the Friday, April 12 tilt against the Toledo Walleye, the team announced that Saturday, April 13, game against the Cincinnati Cyclones will be upheld as announced earlier but they were looking for a new date or venue which they found. The game will take place at UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry Township, PA, just 25 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh. Doors will open at 7 p.m., and puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Tickets will be limited to season ticket members and partial plan holders. The team is asking all season ticket members and partial plan holders to bring tickets/season passes upon entry, as staff will be present to help fans at the door.

The Nailers also announced that FloSports and Comet broadcasts for the April 13 game will be unavailable. Fans wanting to catch the action will are still able to listen in on WKWK-FM Mix 97.3.

Friday’s game was originally slated for 7:10 p.m. before the team announced a time change to 6 p.m. earlier on April 12. A few hours later, the team announced the game would be postponed with the statement, “Flood waters have risen faster than initially anticipated, preventing both games this weekend from being played.”

For the Wheeling Nailers, these are two crucial games the team needs to play to make the Kelly Cup playoffs. The Nailers sit third in the ECHL’s Central Division with 79 points. Following closely behind are the Kalamazoo Wings (77 points) and Fort Wayne Komets (76). Wheeling and Kalamazoo sit on 70 games played, while Fort Wayne has one game in hand.
