The Wheeling Nailers have announced that they’ve signed forward Mike Posma for the 2025-26 season. Posma, 23, made his ECHL debut at the end of last season, where he played in four games with the Florida Everblades while also picking up his first career point with an assist. He is the fifth forward and sixth signing for the 2025-26 season by the Nailers.
Prior to going pro, the Pomona, NY, native would spend his junior days in the USHL. During his two years in the USHL, Posma would play for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, Tri-City Storm, and Omaha Lancers. He would put up 19 goals and 21 assists for 40 points in 89 games. Posma would then take the NCAA route, where he played four seasons with the Boston College Eagles. In 142 games, he would put up 15 goals and 21 assists for 36 points. During his time at Boston College, the Eagles won back-to-back regular-season Hockey East Championships.
Hockey Runs In The Family
Mike is the only one in the Posma family who has played hockey, as his Uncle spent one season with the Utica Devils during the 1990-91 season, where he put up 19 goals and 30 assists for 49 points in 78 games. He would finish his career in Switzerland, where he spent parts of eight seasons, while also making a quick stop in Germany during the 1997-98 season.
Mike’s brother David is entering his fourth year of NCAA hockey and will begin the 2025-26 season at Stone Hill College, which is his third school so far. In 88 games, he’s put up three goals and 14 assists for 17 points. David won a Robertson Cup in 2022 with the New Jersey Titans.
