ECHL: Wichita Thunder Forward Kelly Bent Suspended Two Games

The ECHL has announced that Witcita Thunder forward Kelly Bent has been suspended two games and fined an undisclosed amount for his actions during Wednesday’s game vs Idaho Steelheads. Bent, who was originally hit by Nick Canade on a hit that Bent thought was a penalty, would go back and blindside Canade and would be assessed a major for interference along with a game misconduct at the 15:18 mark of the second period. The Halifax native is no stranger to the suspensions and the penalty box, as he was suspended two games last season for a boarding call and finished the season with 125 penalty minutes. In his final three seasons in the QMJHL with the Saint John Sea Dogs and Halifax Mooseheads, Brent would record 430 penalty minutes in 164 games and led the QMJHL with 150 penalty minutes during the 2015-16 season. Brent is entering his fourth season in the ECHL as he’s spent time with the Kansas City Mavericks, Allen Americans, and Wichita Thunder, in which he has put up three goals and six assists for nine points, along with 280 PIMS in 81 games. He will miss Friday and Saturday’s game vs Idaho.
