ECHL: Wichita Thunder Re-Sign Tyler Jette

The Wichita Thunder have announced that they have re-signed 6’3″ defenseman Tyler Jette for the 2025-26 season.

Junior and Collegiate Career

Tyler Jette started his junior career playing in two games in the USHL with the Bloomington Thunder. Jette then moved to the WHL but missed the 2016-17 season due to an injury. In the 2017-18 season, he played in five games with the Tri-City Americans in the WHL before moving to the AJHL. He spent two seasons in the AJHL with the Sherwood Park Crusaders, captaining the team in his second season. In 66 games with the Crusaders, Jette registered nine goals and 31 assists for 40 points with 70 penalty minutes. He had two goals and eight assists with ten penalty minutes in 17 playoff games.

Jette then started his collegiate career playing USports at Lakehead University, where he spent five seasons, but only played in four after the 2020-21 season was cancelled due to COVID. In 87 games at Lakehead, Jette registered five goals and 23 assists for 28 points with 42 penalty minutes.

Professional Career

After completing his time in USports, Jette started his professional career, signing in the ECHL with the Wichita Thunder. Jette has played in 79 games with the Thunder, where he has registered four goals and 11 assists for 15 points with a +7. In the 2024-25 season, he played in 59 games with the Thunder, where he had three goals and seven assists with eight penalty minutes and a +4.

Jette has already started to show that he could be a great defenseman for the Thunder. Jette is able to force turnover and can control the puck extremely well. Offensively, he has a lot of speed, allowing him to create odd-man rushes and breakaways for his team.
